TREE CROPS UNIT:

The primary functions of the tree crop unit are to design and conduct research related to genetic improvement, sustainable farming systems integration, economic assessments of cultivation practices, adaptation strategies for climate change impacts, and farmer education initiatives.

The Tree Crops Unit is dedicated to bolstering Liberia's tree crop sectors through robust research, cutting-edge innovation, and comprehensive capacity-building initiatives. The TCU's primary focus is on developing high-yielding, disease-resistant planting materials for key tree crops such as cocoa, coffee, oil palm, and others.

The TCU's efforts are directed towards achieving the following objectives

Increased Crop ProductivityBy providing farmers with access to high-quality planting materials and advanced agricultural techniques, the TCU seeks to significantly boost crop yields.

Improved Market Access: The TCU is working to enhance the quality and quantity of tree crop production, enabling farmers to access profitable national and international markets.

Sustainable Agricultural Development: By promoting sustainable farming practices and conserving valuable genetic resources, the TCU contributes to the long-term health and prosperity of Liberia's agricultural sector.
